UNESCO and one of the world’s hardest-working professions
UNESCO says it is honoring one of the world’s hardest-working professions, by placing a spotlight on those who specialise in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in this year’s World Teachers’ Day.
Globally, ECE is a field often mired by poor training, staffing and funding.
UNESCO Institute for Statistics says about 10.9 million primary-school teachers will need to be recruited by 2020 to meet the goal of providing universal primary education for all.
The World Teachers’ Day kicked off with a round-table discussion about the problems that plague education around the world at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris with ECE as the lead in agenda.
